So i ran the latest versions of firefox, opera, safari and ie9 which all claim to have some support for HTML 5 but no Tags appeared. What browser will show the tags?

I've tested the following desktop environments:

Windows 7

  IE9

  Safari 5.1

  Chrome 14.0.835.126

  Opera 9.63

  Firefox 3.5.7

OSX Lion

  Chrome 13.0.782.220

  Safari 5.1

As well as various iOS and Android versions.

All worked fine.

Can you give me some more information about your environment? Have you tried pointing to a known working site at http://bonedrymartini.com/jquerytag? What are you seeing instead of Tags?

This is all I get with any browser:

Microsoft Tag jQuery Plugin Demo Page

If you are using a browser that suppports HTML5, you will see 6 Microsoft Tags all rendered to HTML5 via javascript.

Nothing special about the environment just Win7 Ultimate but there have been other unusual occurrances in conjunction with other sites. I have to assume it is this machine.

Ah, that's almost CERTAINLY a problem with JavaScript in general running on your machine or maybe something w/ blocking jQuery.  If JavaScript / jQuery are running (accessible) even at all the actual text would be replaced ... one hopes with tags on many browsers, but on browsers that don't support canvases with a message saying "canvas drawing not supported!"
